SECTION 1.
461
(No. 78.) Sir,
The Marquess of Lansdowne to Sir M. Durand.
Foreign Office, March 27, 1905. WITH reference to your despatch No. 154 of the 28th September, 1904, I transmit to you herewith a copy of a letter which has been received from the Board of Trade,* relative to the proposed Agreement between His Majesty's Government and the United States' Government for the mutual protection of British and American trade-marks in China.
The Board concur that the United States' Government should be informed that His Majesty's Government agree to their proposal that an Arrangement should be come to between the two Governments with regard to China, such as already exists between them for the reciprocal protection of trade-marks in Morocco.
I request that you will address a communication to the United States' Government in that sense, and inform them that the necessary instructions on the subject will be sent to His Majesty's Minister at Peking.
I am, &c.
(Signed)
LANSDOWNE.
